The Dr. Will Show - Transformational Change in the Digital Age with Dr. Kathrine Shone

On this episode, I chat with Dr. Kathrine Shone about transformational change in the digital age.

Dr. Kathrine Shone’s journey to continuous learning began in 1998 when she set forth her personal vision to become an educator. At that time, Dr. Shone had made a professional commitment to pioneer the dramatic shift of educational focus to cater not only to the ones who “fit the mold” but those who persistently struggle. Her tenure in the alternative education and special education programs laid a solid foundation for which she was able to accomplish a significant portion of this basic mission – to create conditions for academic success for the disadvantaged students. As a counselor, alternative ed. teacher, resource specialist, teacher on special assignment, an assistant principal and a veteran principal with 8 years of experience from both a high achieving and a turnaround middle school, Dr. Shone provided quality education to young adolescents. She was extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to influence and help elevate the level of efficacy of teachers and teacher leaders by shaping a school culture which embraces reflection and growth as its core values.
Dr. Shone possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. In 2002, she received her Master’s Degree in Cross-Cultural Teaching with academic distinction, and a formal invitation to the elite international honor society for educators, Pi Lambda Theta.
In 2006, Dr. Shone was recognized by Inland Valley News for Excellence in Secondary Education at their 9th Annual Celebration of Excellence Awards, an event that celebrates the achievements and contributions of people who help make their community the jewel of Southern California. Her article “Mentoring the Mindsets of 21st Century Leaders” was also published in Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Leadership Magazine in January of 2013.
With 15 years of gratifying experience as a teacher, teacher leader and school and district administrator, it became very evident that pursuing her dream of acquiring a doctoral degree in educational leadership seems to be a natural next step in her personal and professional journey towards excellence. Dr. Shone relishes every opportunity possible to engage in serious self-development and replicate the personal transformation process that is associated with effective leadership. On September 2015, she fulfilled that dream and was awarded the Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership with academic distinction from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Soon after, she was selected as one of the facilitator candidate for the National Institute of School Leadership (NISL) program.
Dr. Kathrine Shone is currently the Director of Equity and Professional Learning at the Pomona Unified School District.
