The Dr. Will Show - A Dissertation is ... with Dr. Wendy Carter-Veale

On this episode, I hangout with Dr. Wendy Carter-Veale, and we chat about the dissertation process.

Dr. Carter has obtained masters degrees from Stanford University and Carnegie Mellon University and a M.S. and Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Research and her own educational trials showed Dr. Carter that 50% of all students drop out of graduate school and 17% drop out during the thesis and the dissertation phase. In response to this startling statistic, she developed an interactive thesis dissertation help motivation tutorial product designed to alleviate the high attrition rate among graduate students. She also developed a powerful presentation that not only motivates and encourages students, but also gives them workable solutions to their own educational crises. Her company TA-DA Thesis and Dissertation Accomplished was designed to help graduate students demystify the maze of higher education.

Currently, Dr. Carter shares her expertise with graduate students at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) as the program coordinator of the PROMISE program and the PhD Completion Project, co-founder of the Dissertation House and the on-campus dissertation coach.  In addition, Dr. Carter successfully manages many other roles – parent, educator, business owner and motivational speaker. Her daughter graduated cum laude from Howard University. Dr. Carter continues to be an inspiration and invaluable resource to students and educators throughout the country.

The Dr. Will Show - Betting On Your Strengths with Lisa Cummings

On this episode, I hangout with Lisa Cummings - CEO of Lead Through Strengths - a strengths-based training and coaching company.

Lisa has delivered events to over 9,000 people in 14 countries. In her signature program, Notice What Works, she helps leaders improve performance on their teams by tapping into each person’s strengths. You can see her featured in places like Harvard Business Publishing, Training Magazine, and Forbes. She’s currently the CEO of a company called Lead Through Strengths. If you’ve been trying to turn your Shaquille O’Neal players into horse racing jockeys, it’s time to use their natural talents instead. Although that example sounds obvious, this misfit dynamic exists on most corporate teams today. Attend this event and learn how the weakness zone contributes to the 87% of employees who are not fully engaged at work (source: Gallup). With 20 years of experience and an MBA, the most persistent trend she sees is a lopsided focus on hard skills in the workplace. She'll help you invest in natural talents so that how your team gets things done boosts performance as much as what gets done.
